OPRUSS India Pvt Ltd: Revolutionising Water Monitoring Systems at Nainital Lake, Uttarakhand

Lakes serve as crucial water resources for local communities, playing a key role in sustaining both natural and human ecosystems. The impact of climate change has made it increasingly vital to monitor and manage these water bodies effectively. Recognizing the importance of this, the Ministry of Jal Shakti, along with CEDAR (Centre for Ecology Development and Research), Forest Research Institute Dehradun, and IIT Roorkee, partnered with PT Ecological Services Pvt. Ltd (PTESPL) and OPRUSS India Pvt Ltd to deploy an advanced surface water monitoring system at Nainital Lake in June 2022.

Innovative System for Sustainable Monitoring

The OPRUSS-engineered smart sensors are central to the solution, offering a clean and green approach to water quality monitoring. With no hazardous chemical emissions or discharges, the system operates sustainably, powered by an onboard solar system that allows it to run continuously, even in varying weather conditions.

Our system integrates cutting-edge technology, incorporating features like:

Advanced Monitoring Capabilities

The system measures critical parameters such as pH, ORP, turbidity, conductivity, temperature, salinity, TDS, resistivity, specific conductance, electric conductance, and dissolved oxygen in real-time. The real-time data is transmitted directly through an onboard telemetry system to the Ecolyser dashboard—OPRUSS’s proprietary real-time monitoring software. This enables stakeholders to access live data, historical reports, and detailed data logs in universally compatible formats.

Since its deployment, the FOREMS (Field Observations and Real-time Environmental Monitoring System) at Nainital Lake has been running effectively. This accomplishment is a remarkable milestone in OPRUSS’s journey of innovation, ensuring that critical water resources are monitored sustainably and efficiently, aiding efforts to combat the effects of climate change on vital water bodies.
